HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MAPLE LEAF FLAG
A number of flags have been flown in Canada since John Cabot arrived in Newfoundland in 1497. Britain’s Union Jack had the longest run, lasting from 1621 to 1964. On December 15th, 1964, Canada’s House of Commons approved the maple leaf designed used today, and it was officially inaugurated on February 15th, 1965.
