HISTORIC PHOTO: FIRST PHOTO OF PEOPLE

Though not the intended subjects of the photograph above, the shoe shiner and his customer are reportedly the first people to appear in one. Though  probably meant to be merely a view of the Boulevard du Temple in Paris, it was taken in 1838 by Louis-Jacques-Mandé Daguerre, inventor of the first commercially successful photographic process, the daguerreotype.
