Question: Which monarch holds the record for the shortest reign in history?
Answer: It’s a draw. France’s Louis XIX, was obviously aware that, by July of 1830, the country’s populace just wasn’t all that into royalty anymore and abdicated within twenty minutes of ascending the throne. The other shortest reign claimant, Portugal’s Dom Carlos I died after he and his son Crown Prince Luís Filpe were attacked on February 1st, 1908. The badly wounded Luís Filpe then immediately became king but survived his father by only twenty minutes.
