Also known as Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti, this Indian national holiday is a celebration of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi who was born on October 2nd, 1869 in Porbandar, Gujarat, India. His non-violent resistance movement, Satyagraha (‘moral domination’), led to his birthday being the day on which people observe International Non-Violence Day.
