A special day recognizing the hard work and dedication of teachers varies from country to country. In India, Teacher’s Day is held of September 5th, the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a renowned scholar who was the second President of India. On Teacher’s Day, the current President of India presents National Awards to outstanding teachers from across the country. The National Awards have been presented since1958, but Teacher’s Day itself only became official last year.
And this blog stands in support of all the teachers currently on strike in B.C., Canada. Hold the line, guys. You have to win this one. Regardless of how long it takes. When education is so obviously NOT a government priority, it has to be a parent and teacher one.
