“You are young … time will change and even reverse many of your present opinions.” – Plato
Plato was right. When I was a teen-ager (and knew everything) I wore a peace medal to protest what was happening in Vietnam and thought Remembrance Day services simply “glorified war” at a time everyone should have focused on peace. I now know that those who abhor war should honour those who brought peace. But even in my more radical days, I respected the traditional two minutes, unlike the young man who inspired the song “A Pittance Of Time” (in French, “C’est si peu de temps”). It was penned by singer/songwriter Terry Kelly after he witnessed a shameful insult to veterans in a drugstore in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada back in 1999.
