The world is made up of ailurophobes and ailurophiles.
Ailurophobes hate and/or fear cats. The list of cat-hating historical figures includes Pope Gregory IX, Queen Elizabeth I, Johannes Brahms, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Ailurophiles love cats. The list of cat-loving historical figures includes Muhammad, Nostradamus, Marie Antoinette, Robert E. Lee, Florence Nightingale, Albert Einstein, and Winston Churchill.
As evidenced by my blog header, I am an ailurophile. In many places, today is National Feral Cat Day, which makes it a good day to get kids to investigate cat-lovers and cat-haters. It’s also a good day to have them explore how domestic cats came to be feral, and how people can make their lives better. In the photo above, I am petting a feral kitten that has been successfully socialized.
